Free Pattern Friday - August

It's the last Friday of the month my friends and that can only mean it's Free Pattern Friday! Hundreds of talented, budding designers are adding wonderful free patterns to the amigurumi world each day and I've made it my monthly mission to track the best ones down. If you follow me on Facebook (where I share a new free pattern every day) the chances are you've already seen a couple of these - but I threw in a few new ones too. Here are my top 10 favourite amigurumi patterns that I've pinned this month!

Free Pattern Friday - Top 10 August Picks:

1. Jip the Owl - By Tessa Van Riet. Jip isn't the first owl to make it into Free Pattern Friday but he is definitely the cutest! The colours and details in this design are just flawless. If you love owls (and who doesn't?) definitely put Jip on your make list.

2. BB Dolls - by Vanja Grundmann. Aren't these little dolls just lovely? Such a simple design pulled off so perfectly. They look like they would be quick to make and great as a last minute birthday gift.

3. Lark the Monster - by Stacey Trock. Again, another simple design but Lark is just so quirky and cute I had to include him! The designer has crocheted this little guy entirely through the back loop which has given him a unique texture. If you are new to the world of amigurumi, this wee guy would be a great first project.

4. Aviator Fox - by Yarn Treasures. This sweet little fox made my heart take flight when I saw him! I love his goggles, and the detail on his jacket. I've never heard of this designer before but it's obvious she (or he!) is very gifted.

5. Tiny Teddy Bears - by Annie's Granny Design.  My Facebook likers went mad for these and to be honest so did I! You'll need a very small hook to make these tiny teddies. I think they would make amazing handmade key chains or phone charms - perfect "pocket money" sellers for your next craft stall.

6. Snake - by Sonea Delvon. Wow! This is by far the best amigurumi snake I've ever seen. So wonderfully detailed, and the variegated yarn used here creates the illusion of scales! Wouldn't he make a fabulous draught excluder?

7. Despicable Me Minion - by Nichole's Nerdy Knots. There are hundreds of minion patterns all over the internet now, but this design has to be one of my favourites. Every single part of him is crocheted - including the eyes, goggles and hair!

8. Classic Sock Monkey - by Mari-Liis Lille. I have made dozens of sock monkeys in my time! Both babies and adults love them and they make great gifts. Unfortunately the socks required to make the classic sock monkey (with the red mouth) are both hard to come by and very expensive - but now you can crochet one instead!

9. Humpty Dumpty Puzzle Doll - by Book People Studio. All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty together again - but you can! This clever little amigurumi is made up of 6 separate crochet pieces - kids will love the challenge of knocking him over and putting him back together!

10. Kid Heroes - by Mary Smith. I saved the best for last! Due to copyright issues these once premium patterns were recently, generously made free by the incredibly talented Mary Smith. That's right - every single one is absolutely FREE!

Check back next month for my top 10 free patterns of September. Don't forget to check out my Pinterest page for thousands of free craft tutorials and, of course, free amigurumi patterns!

Have a crafty weekend everyone!
